abandoned life drawings, horrifically rusty
06/03/12
from last tuesday!! wasn’t very pleased at all starting out, i was really grumpy about how things were coming out.. (turns out i really don’t like drawing directly onto that brown paper.) BUT (changed paper and) I KEPT AT IT and managed to get into the swing of it by the last two poses! YYYEEEEAAAAAAAAA
although, don’t get me wrong, i’m quite aware of the errors, and they’re difficult for me not to see as the drawer - life drawin’ ain’t all about describing that person perfectly with your pencil! there’s cameras for that
THUG LYFE

life draws from last tuesday!
(top one is actually the last one i did, but also the only landscape one so it fit there best.)
poor poor art blog.
the most awkward life drawing session we had turned out to be the one where we drew each other.. drawing each other.
you can probably tell what’s going on in these drawings: some are drawings of drawings (yes, I turned our teacher into Jesus), some are drawing someone drawing someone, etc.
this particular life drawing class is long over now and in some ways I’m glad, while it pushed me a lot, drawing is something I’m already fairly familiar with and I’d like to move onto doing something different. hopefully gonna take the sculpture class in the new year!
more life drawings! same dude, same pose… sigh. didn’t have such a hard time this week, though. goodness knows why, it just came easier.
i should add a disclaimer: i am taking a life drawing module at the moment, focused more on an inspection of the body and the act of drawing, rather than the skill of drawing itself. for example, we don’t usually do gesture drawings, and this week, as you can see, we did A1 studies of the body split up into four sections - twice.
oh, also the students are being filmed while drawing. it’s weird!! now that i think about it, nobody has yet to dare ask why exactly we are being filmed. the teacher did mention that this week he will be exiting a video… next week we’ll get to see it. art school!
drawing the same naked dude in the same pose in varying methods for three hours certainly makes a… different afternoon.
super quick sketches to from a visit to Leeds Art Gallery. it’s pretty sweet! definitely worth a visit if you live t’up north, it’s a huge place with a lot of art by a real cross section of artists, the website doesn’t do it justice.
have some sketchbook. I ate a subway sandwich while drawing this, it was brilliant.
